One thing I did well this year was getting better control of my finances, health and my life. Of course there is ALWAYS room for improvements, which I will try to do in 2013 but I definitely did make improvements in these areas over 2011. I didn't meet all my goals for this year, like volunteering but I did read more, I spent more quality time with my family and I got better at sticking with my budget. When you do your taxes and you see your yearly household income there in black and white and realize you don't have much to show for that, THAT is a big eye opener.
Finances--Stick to our budget and build up savings. I'd like to find a Financial Peace University class in our area and use it as a motivator to stay on track Dave Ramsey's FPU
Health--Lose some weight, probably in the 10-15lb range by the end of the year. I want to exercise regularly and eat better
Family--Continue to enjoy my daughter, 11 is a good age for her and I really like spending time with her. Hopefully age 12 will be just as good. Make more time to spend with my husband, maybe go out of town on a long weekend or two. Its tough when you work with your spouse to carve out that time to just be a couple

Even though I hit my reading goal already for this year, I plan on trying to read another book or two in 2012 since I'll have a few uninterrupted days after Christmas without the kiddos. Might as well take some time for myself too! I just finished The Light Between Oceans today and I really like it a lot. I was reading it on my phone while my husband was driving, I was reading it at the kitchen counter while cooking dinner and today when I finished it, I cried. I can probably count on one hand the books that have made me cry and I wasn't really expecting this one to be in that list. Its about a couple who live on a small island in a very isolated area and the husband, Tom, runs the lighthouse on that island. They are the only two inhabitants of the island and struggled for a long time to start a family and were shocked when a boat washed up on their island with a man who had died and a screaming newborn. Blessing? Maybe...you'll have to read it to find out :) Something about the parents' deep desire to have a family and the the drama that could happen if they don't report finding the baby.
This is kind of an emotional week for me and I think that contributed to my emotions being all over the place while reading this. December 19th is the birthday of my friend Faith, who died 10 years ago in a car accident. Then today, December 20th is the 4 year anniversary of my aunt Cindy's death. She wasn't too much older than me since there were so many kids in my dad's family and he's one of the older ones. She was special to me, she knew/understood/appreciated my wicked sense of humor and understood why certain things were hard for me during my parents very messy divorce. I feel so bad for her son and daughter and the husband she left behind and my grandparents who depended on her for so much.
Having a few somber days before the holidays can be a good thing though. It will make you appreciate the time you had with loved ones and make you thankful for the people who are here today.

If you look at my closet you will find mostly a sea of blacks and grays, both in my clothes and in my shoe collection. It’s always a conscious decision to add color or variety to my wardrobe since I tend to steer myself in the easiest direction possible which usually means that it’s a little boring. Getting to try out the No nonsense tights and leggings is really great because I have the opportunity to pair them with shirts that I love and gives me a whole new look that is much more fashionable than plain
boring black pants. They are also very versatile which really appeals to the practical part of me. I can take shirts and sweaters I already own, put on the corduroy leggings and the outfit looks completely different. This is really good if you are a practical person like me, with the leggings being a solid color you can pair them with any color shirt and the outfit looks complete. This is also a good way to experiment with patterns because the No nonsense leggings go with everything.
Here is an outfit I created that I am wearing the weekend after Christmas when I'm going out of town for a quick little trip. The leggings slenderize your legs because they are form fitted so I'm going to play that up by wearing my peep toe heels and a little bit of a looser top. It will make my 5'3" self look a little taller and what woman doesn't want to look more slender? One of my favorite things about these leggings is that they are REALLY comfortable and the fabric feels so soft. Definitely not rough like the corduroy we wore as children! They are soft to the touch and a little stretchy so I think they'll fit in my wardrobe plans really nicely. Comfortable to wear while in route to our destination but will still make me look put together. No more sweats or yoga pants, these leggings make you look 10 times better than other comfortable pants without sacrificing style. Plus, you can get them at most of the major retail stores as well as stores you probably go to every day like Wal-Mart or Target. And since they are so affordable and easy to pack you can save not only your hard earned money but also valuable packing space.
Now, this is my favorite new outfit that I will be wearing for a Christmas party this Saturday. I will know quite a few people from work and I definitely want to wear something a little funkier than what I usually wear to work. One of my goals for 2013 is to start dressing better at the office and I know that by adding things like these No nonsense tights it can take a boring outfit and give it a little something extra so you look more put together without breaking the bank or requiring too much effort. Thats exactly what I'm looing for, low on effort but not sacrificing the end result!
Something No nonsense is doing for 2013 is teaming up with Jill Martin as their new brand ambassador. Jill is very talented and is an expert in the fashion industry and I No nonsense was really smart to team up with Jill. Besides being a fashion expert, she is an Emmy-Award winning tv personality and has even co-authored a New York Times bestselling style guide, "I Have Nothing to Wear!" I'm sure you've never said anything like that, right?!?! Jill will be very active on their site and on all their social media platforms reaching out to help answer your style questions and help you come up with new looks. I am excited to see what she has to offer, I'll definitely be checking out her suggestions!

The holidays are here and one of my favorite things about this time of year is having time off work and getting to go out with old friends who are back in town. Hanging out with your girlfriends is so much fun in a totally different way than it is when the boyfriends or husbands are around. It's just not the same, guys don't know that half the fun is the party before you go out and party!
Primp & Prep with your girls is all about getting ready before hitting the town in style! "Who's wearing what?" "Can I borrow some makeup?" "Those earrings look fab!" "Oh, turn this song up, it's my jam!" This is the calm before you and your girls take the clubs by storm.
Primp & Prep is an exclusive online site on hpnotiq.com, one stop shop, where girls can go to get all of their beauty, fashion, style tips, gossip, music etc. before they hit the town for their girl's night out. I LOVE being with friends before we go out. All the talking, laughing and just having fun getting ready is usually the favorite part of the night LOL
Hpnotiq clearly offers so many things for all types people and interests, including a whole section just about guys! My favorite thing about the Primp & Prep site is the cocktail recipes. I love looking at the recipes and trying them out at home, there are endless combinations! It's such a bummer to go out and spend money on a drink and find out you don't like it. Its nice to try them out at home and have a little fun while you and your friends are getting ready. Primp & Prep also offers a Pandora station which is pretty awesome. No boring songs, nobody fighting over genres, just fun, upbeat current music that is bound to get you moving. Add in good friends, good drinks and you have nothing but fun!
Remember though, make sure you are 21 years or older to drink alcoholic beverages and as always, please remember to drink responsibly
Don't forget to make some time this holiday season to hang out with your friends, hair down music up!
